Is a Career in IT the Right Fit for You?

You don’t need a tech background to succeed in IT — but a natural curiosity about how things work goes a long way. The students who get the most out of our IT certificate and degree programs tend to share a few things in common:

  • Enjoy problem-solving
  • Are curious about technology, networks, and computer systems
  • Are motivated to learn as technology evolves
  • Want practical, applicable skills—not just classroom theory

Our IT training programs are designed for:

  • Career changers ready to move into a growing industry
  • Working adults who need flexibility but also want structure and support behind them
  • Anyone who’s often the go-to tech person and wants to make it official

Already have some IT training or experience?

If you have valid industry certifications or credits from another college, the team at Asher College will work with you to determine what might transfer into our IT programs. If you have work experience in your field, you may also have the option to “challenge” a course prior to beginning a program.

Why Choose Asher College for IT Training

1

The Technical Depth Employers Notice

There are faster and cheaper IT programs out there. The difference is in the preparation —  IT certifications are rigorous for a reason, and Asher’s IT certificate and degree programs are built to make sure you’re genuinely ready for them, and for the work that comes after.

2

Build Your Class Schedule Around Your Life

Unlike programs with fixed timetables, Asher’s hybrid learning model lets you create a personalized schedule—combine on-campus training with remote study based on what works for you each week.

You don’t have to put your life on hold to move your career forward.

3

IT Certification Employers Recognize

Every phase of training is built around industry-recognized certifications—and you can earn them as you go, not all at once at the end. That means by the time you graduate, you may already hold several credentials. For many students, it could open the door to entry-level IT work while they’re still completing the program. Depending on your program, certifications include:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Linux+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect

These aren’t just credentials — they’re globally recognized industry standards that employers actively hire for.

4

Degree Options To Advance Your Skills

When you complete your certificate program, you’re ready to work. Most graduates step directly into IT roles with their certifications in hand—and for many, that’s exactly the right next move.  Asher also gives you the option to continue into an IT Associate’s Degree with an additional six months of training, available 100% online or hybrid, on your own schedule.

That means you don’t have to choose between getting into the workforce and building long-term credentials. You can do both—start working and continue toward your degree at a pace that fits your life.

4

Training IT Professionals Since 1998

Nearly 30 years of focused IT training means Asher’s programs have been shaped by real outcomes — refined with every class, every certification result, and every graduate who’s gone on to work in the field.

Our curriculum is developed with input from an advisory board of working IT professionals and the employers who hire them — so what you learn reflects what the field actually needs right now.

Next Class Starts June 1, 2026!

Practice on Real Problems Before You Graduate

Asher hosts a free PC clinic every week on campus, open to the community. As a student, you’re doing real repairs, solving real problems, and building the confidence that comes from knowing you’ve done it before.

Labs, simulations, and live troubleshooting are built into every program.

HOW Hybrid TRAINING WORKS

A Schedule You Control - Never Miss a Class

Asher’s hybrid program combines on-campus training with remote study. Rather than fitting your life around a fixed timetable, you decide how many hours per week on campus work for you, then build your schedule around that commitment.

  • Full-time – 24 hours per week
  • 3/4 time – 18 hours per week
  • Part-time – 12 hours per week

Every Asher campus is open Monday through Saturday, giving you flexibility across the week rather than locking you into specific class times.

Choose the pace that fits your life.

I was going through a difficult time, and they continue to constantly check on me. Michael, Theresa, and Karen. They were simply amazing. It felt like a family and not a school. I wanna give a huge shout out to my family, my best friend, my boyfriend, and to my grandma who’s in heaven watching me right now, and I did it for her.

Blanca Lucero

Asher College Graduate

I absolutely love the environment. The staff is absolutely amazing and would stop what ever they are doing and help you. My absolute favorite thing I love about Asher College is the Career Success Class I take twice a week. I absolutely love this class it opens up your mind.

Niko Dennis

Computer Operations Security Specialist Graduate

I’ve always been passionate of IT. I was looking online at different ways to learn, teaching myself and going to the library, just trying to learn the ins and outs. I finally found a program where they’re able to teach me and provide me the certificates that I was looking to get. I graduated Asher College with a computer operations security specialist degree and got my Security+ certificate. I’m excited to move on to my future.

LaTonya Fletcher

Medical Records Specialist Graduate

I’ve always been in the medical field, but I always have to refresh. This is like a refresher course for me; I have my AS in medical billing already. I heard about Asher College through the Department of Rehab and I’m graduating from the medical records specialist program. My favorite part of the program is being able to do your own hours and work around your schedule. I’m looking forward to working in health information management.

Kristalyn Joy Arenas

Computer Operations Security Specialist Graduate

I am an Air Force veteran. After serving active duty for over 9 years, I was going through the TAPS program and somebody from base recommended the school. The program I did was an associate’s degree in computer operations and security, and I was able to receive a certificate for CompTIA A+. After I graduated, I managed to get a job at McClellan Air Base. I am going to start

Janeane Milazzo

Medical Billing and CodingMedical Billing & Coding Graduate

I’ve always wanted to get in the medical field, but I’m not a nurse. I decided I wanted to go back to school and found Asher online. I learned a lot, and I get emotional doing this because I’m the first person in my family to graduate college. To somebody who thinks it’s too late for them to come back to school: it’s never too late. You can do it. If I can do it, you can do it.

Eric Sanchez

Information Technology Graduate

I was just working a retail job and I came to the conclusion that this probably wasn’t going to be for me. I was ready to make the change. What I like most about the program is it was really based on me and my timing, fitting it into my schedule. Life is definitely busy, especially when you are married and you have two kids, and it worked out perfectly for us. I earned two certifications while I was here—CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+—and I’m still working on that Security+ right now.

Cedrick Golden

Information Technology Graduate

I’ve been in the security field for about 13 years, so this was just basically a whole new brand new experience for me. After completing my four years in the Marine Corps, I always thought I’ll be in like a security type field, always being the muscle man of the group. But right now I feel like I can make more of a difference. With this new field and how I’m coming into it, it’s like being a brand new baby living life again.

Brianna Frausto

Medical Billing & Coding Graduate

I like medical coding and billing mainly for the coding part because it’s like a puzzle; you have to figure out where it fits. I thought that was really fun and challenging. Honestly, it was challenging—I think that’s what I liked about it the most. Be prepared to be challenged because it’s going to be a good thing. It’s going to make you better over time.

Avery West

Medical Billing & Coding Graduate

I was looking for my next step right after getting out of the military. My background in the Air Force was that I was a medic and so medical billing and coding was the administrative part of continuing on. It was really a great fit. My favorite part of the program was the independence that you get from the flexible schedule. I was able to come in on the days of the week that worked for me and at my own time.
